Please welcome Jonathan Gunnell to Pitt Online!

Please join us in welcoming Jonathan Gunnell to the Pitt Online team! Jonathan received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Duquesne University in Music Technology and Digital Music Pedagogy, respectively. He is currently a doctoral candidate in the Instructional Technology and Leadership program at Duquesne and his research focus is on the impact of music on cognitive performance. Jonathan is joining Pitt Online after working as the Computer Lab Manager and faculty member in the Mary Pappert School of Music where he has taught courses in audio, web design, and music technology since 2008. Jonathan is also an accomplished musician and performs frequently in the Pittsburgh area.

School of Nursing Course Codes Changing for Fall

Nursing Students: You will see a slight change to your course codes in the fall semester. In PeopleSoft, the code designations for online courses will now be the same as course codes for on-ground courses. The distinguishing factor is the Site will be tagged as PittOnline and the Building will say WEBTBA.

For a sample, please view the PeopleSoft screenshot in the image below. You will see that in the Columns for Building/Room and Site, both denote Web and Pitt Online status. This is the section to select when registering for courses.

Pitt Online Wins 4th Blackboard Exemplary Course Award!

Hot off the press! Pitt Online has received a 2014 Blackboard Exemplary Course Award, the fourth consecutive year that we've received this honor!

LIS 2600 Introduction to Information Technologies is taught by Dr. Chris Tomer as part of the MLIS: Pitt Online program. The course introduces students to the world of distributed computing, with specific reference to applications for libraries and archives. The 'Catalyst' Exemplary Course Award is an annual recognition by Blackboard for courses that excel in interaction and collaboration, assessment and learner support. This is the fourth such award for Pitt Online: previous winners included NURSP 3294 Evidence-Based Quality Improvement (School of Nursing, 2013), Management Essentials Online (Center for Executive Education, 2012), and NUR 2261 Organizational and Management Theory (School of Nursing, 2011).

Certificate in Nursing Research Now Available Online!

We're pleased to announce that the Certificate in Nursing Research is now available online through the School of Nursing! This program is for Bachelor-prepared nurses and current or past graduate students who are seeking focused education in the field of research. Additionally, nurses interested in advancing their knowledge and skills as clinical research coordinators and quality assurance managers will benefit from this program. Congratulations to Dr. Elizabeth Schlenk, Program Director, for her efforts to launch this program with Pitt Online!
