Is Pitt Part of SARA?

Yes. The University of Pittsburgh is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and approved by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to participate in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA), overseen by NC-SARA. This allows Pitt to offer online programs to students across all SARA member states and territories. Participation does not guarantee a program meets licensure requirements in a given state — see Professional Licensure Disclosures below.
Complaint and Grievance Resolution
Students should first use the complaint process provided by their program or school. Those in SARA member states or territories who are unsatisfied with the outcome — except for complaints about grades or student conduct — may appeal to Pitt’s SARA portal entity, the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Students in non-SARA states should consult the appropriate state agency.
Professional Licensure Disclosures
For each program leading to licensure or certification, the University discloses whether its curriculum meets the educational requirements for each U.S. state and territory. View Professional Licensure Disclosures for details by program and state.
