Advance Your Expertise in Education (EdD)

The Doctor of Education (EdD) at the University of Pittsburgh School of Education is built for professionals like you who want to lead with impact and drive meaningful change in education and beyond. In this three-year, cohort-based program, you’ll join a community of peers committed to advancing equity, justice, and innovation while continuing your career. The hybrid format is designed around your busy schedule; you’ll complete most of your coursework online while coming to campus just one Saturday each month for valuable in-person learning. The program offers eight majors and requires 76 credits, including 24 graduate credits you transfer in from previous study, with the rest completed at Pitt.

Because the program is structured as part-time, you can immediately apply what you learn to your professional setting while advancing toward your doctorate. Applications are due February 1 for a summer start, with later submissions reviewed if space allows. Along the way, you’ll benefit from a nationally recognized program that was awarded the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate’s “EdD Program of the Year” for its innovation and real-world impact.
