The Professional Master of Studies in Law (MSL) at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law is a 30-credit advanced degree designed for graduates and mid-career professionals who do not intend to practice law, but want to strengthen their careers with a practical understanding of legal systems. The MSL prepares professionals to navigate the legal and regulatory forces that shape business, policy and everyday decision-making. Courses are designed specifically for non-lawyer professionals and combine essential legal theory with practical application in the workplace. Guided by Pitt Law faculty, students receive personalized feedback and access to one-on-one support. The core curriculum—covering areas such as contracts, constitutional law, criminal law, regulation, and the American legal system—is paired with a 15-credit online graduate certificate in a specialized area of study of the student’s choice.
